Robbert-Jan Prince's journey into golf began as a young caddy for his father, sparking a passion that quickly grew after his family moved to Dubai. Living next to Dubai Hills Golf Club, he was drawn to the game’s mental focus, enjoying the “silent competition” where performance is truly individual. Although he first picked up a club at six, Robbert-Jan didn’t fully commit to golf until he was 17, inspired by his trainer Purna Sharma’s teaching style.
Now a certified USGTF Teaching Professional at Blue Bay, Robbert-Jan’s approach with beginners is to help them feel the pure joy of golf, like the thrill of hitting a perfect shot. For advanced players, he emphasizes the situational nature of the game, where no two swings need to look the same. One of his favorite courses is the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Club in Dubai, and he dreams of playing Pinehurst in the U.S. for its scenic pine tree-lined fairways.
A memorable career moment was winning his first tournament, clinching a birdie putt on the final hole with a crowd watching. Driven to grow junior golf, Robbert-Jan is building a vibrant community among young players at Blue Bay, aiming to establish a junior academy to develop future golf talent.
For every golfer, he advises against relying on YouTube tutorials, echoing Tiger Woods’ belief in personalized coaching to truly understand your swing. When he’s not on the course, Robbert-Jan finds freedom in working on cars and motorcycles, appreciating the calm it brings him.
Robbert-Jan is thrilled by the opportunities Blue Bay provides, grateful for a supportive team and the beautiful year-round weather that makes it feel like home away from home.
